Vision changes as time passes so it is important to keep your eyes protected. Vision insurance helps with expenses such as routine eye exams, vision screenings, prescription glasses and contact lenses.

Different plan designs offer various levels of coverage. The major differences between vision insurance plans:

  • the exam copayment
  • frame allowance
  • contact lens allowance

There are options for upgrades to specialty eyeglass lenses such as progressive bifocals, scratch-resistant and anti-glare coatings, progressive lenses, and UV protection.

You are responsible to pay your copayments plus any amount over the allowance. You’ll usually pay less when you visit and in-network optometrist. A participating office will usually submit the claims for you.
